Methamphetamine (Meth) Lab found during the execution of a Search Warrant in the 6500 block of Lynn Ave. Leeds, AL
Leeds Police Officers working in conjunction with Pell City Police Officers executed a Search Warrant in the 6500 block of Lynn Ave. Leeds, AL on Wednesday December 16, 2009. The search warrant was the culmination of a month long investigation into the activities of Joseph Weems, a resident of the location of the search warrant.
Pell City Police Department Patrol Officers arrested Weems on December14, 2009 for several Drug Possession related charges and Eluding Police. Information obtained by PCPD Narcotics Investigator Franklin Green, combined with information developed by the Leeds Police Department Narcotics/Street Crimes Unit led to obtaining the search warrant for the Leeds home.
During the execution of the search warrant Officers from Leeds and Pell City discovered a fully functional methamphetamine “cooking” lab. Also discovered during the search was: a stolen pistol; crystal methamphetamine; pseudo-ephedrine; various drug paraphernalia items; and other items associated with meth use and “cooking”. The suspect had gone to great lengths to hide the “shake and bake” style lab in the basement of the residence.

Charges from the search warrant are pending as the investigation continues. Weems faces possible charges of Unlawful Manufacture of Controlled Substance 1st degree, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, and Felon in Possession of Firearm. Weems is currently in the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Jail-Pell City. As a result of information developed during this investigation, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were able to arrest 3 associates of Weems, 2 on drug charges and another on burglary charges.
