Leeds Elementary School Principal Mike McGee is looking to make school pick-ups and drop-offs a little faster and safer. One way he and Police Resource Officer Dwight Hagan are doing that is by bringing back a school safety patrol. Twelve fifth grade volunteers were selected by teachers for their outstanding grades and maturity. The safety patrol will help mind other children for morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups. The students will wear bright belts, vests, and hats to help them stay visible.
The students and their parents gathered together in the Elementary school library on December 16, 2:00 p.m. where the students were presented with their badges and certificates. Police Chief Ted Cook commended the students and their parents for volunteering for the program. Hagan and Cook also went over the program again with the parents. “The safety of these children is our utmost concern,” Hagan assured the parents.
The below photo is the new Patrol Badge the students will wear.
